- Purchased in memory of Marcia Goodman, first librarian of the History of Science Collections., Italian translation of the original Spanish edition of 1638, entitled Prodigioso volcan de fuego, que exhala en medio del mar Oceanom enfrente de la Isla San Miguel, una de las Terceras, y nueva Isla que ha formado. Tuvo principio en tres de Iulio deste presente año de 1638., Describes the appearance of a submarine volcano in the Açores, which was preceded by tremors, and resulted in the death of large numbers of fish.
- Handwritten and hand illustrated manuscript of the lectures of professor Orazio Grassi, who taught astronomy and mathematics at the Jesuit Collegio Romano, which was written by one of his students., ex. R.P. Horatio Grassio, Societatis Iesu., "In Collegio Romano ex Bdo. P. Horatio Grassio. Societatis Iesu Die ii Iuni, 1623"--P. [56]., Holograph in black ink with hand drawn illustrations also in black ink., Title in red and black in triple border., Text is divided into four sections with caption titles., Sections on geometry and hydraulics have problems sets illustrated with ink sketch diagrams or landscapes., There is a maximum of twenty-three lines of text per page and blank pages show the use of a mechanical device or blind rule to assist the writer in making even and consistent lines., In slipcase.
